It would be nice to re-vamp and old investigation I did back in the time with the framework by Xored named Q7. Its main goal was UI-testing of Eclipse based application. The ability to create test cases that can be played and also integrated in CI environments.
The project was quite young and with some pitfalls, but it could have been beneficial for speeding up QA engineers work and also developers one. We worked shortly on some initial ideas but there were not enough cycles.

Anyhow since then the project evolved and it is now a stable project inside the Eclipse ecosystem and it is called RCPTT (RCP Testing Tool).
It makes sense in my opinion to look at it and plan something together with the QA engineers.
